This competency unit is designed to introduce core barista skills to people with no previous barista experience over the course of 3 days. The WSQ: Provide Specialty Coffee Service aims to equip the individual to understand what sets specialty coffee apart, as well as the necessary skills to serve specialty coffee. Upon completion, attendees should be able to confidently accomplish the following:
- Describe and recommend coffee products.
- Grind and brew coffee.
- Prepare and serve espresso.
- Prepare and serve cappuccino and latte.Course Progression and Prerequisites
This unit is within the competency category of Food & Beverage Service and is one of the modules leading to the CET certificates. There are no prerequisite coffee courses required for this course. This course will be conducted in English, and participants are required to have basic English literacy to attend this course.
