How To Brew With A Hario V60

How To Brew With A Hario V60 (updated)

Step 1: Rinse

Fold the paper filter along the ridges and place it in your dripper. Rinse the filter paper with hot water. Set up your dripper and carafe on your weighing scale.

Step 2: Grind

Grind the coffee beans using the medium setting of your grinder.

Step 3: Setup

Pour coffee grounds into the wet filter paper. Ensure that the coffee bed is even and then hit tare on the weighing scale.

Step 4: Pre-Infuse

Add 40g of hot water. Stir the coffee bed gently to ensure all grounds are saturated. Allow it to bloom for about 30 seconds.

Step 5: Pour

Pour continuously from the middle of the cone in a circular fashion spiralling outwards and inwards. Stop the pour when you have reached the designed amount water of 240g.

Step 6: Serve and enjoy!

Pro Tips

  • Pre heating your cup will ensure the coffee stays warm longer.
  • Aim for a total brew time of 2"30 to 3"30 mins. This will allow sufficient contact time to fully extract the flavours from your coffee grounds.
  • Enjoy your coffee slowly as the flavours will change as it cools.
